Our UV-Vis, NIR, and Raman Inline Spectrometers
Spectroscopy is a branch of physics that studies the interaction between
matter and electromagnetic radiation in order to obtain information about
chemical composition and molecular structure. In particular, UV–Vis spectroscopy measures
absorption in the ultraviolet and visible regions, providing information
on electronic transitions; near-infrared (NIR) spectroscopy probes
overtones and combination bands of molecular vibrations, making it
well suited for rapid, bulk analysis; and Raman spectroscopy detects
inelastic scattering of light, offering detailed molecular fingerprints
with minimal sample preparation.
Building on these principles,
spectrometers are finding increasingly widespread use in the
inline monitoring of industrial processes, as they enable continuous,
real-time analysis without interrupting the production.
Feeding spectroscopic information directly into process control systems
represents a promising route to improved product quality and enhanced
production efficiency. By measuring wavelength-dependent absorption or
scattering, these instruments deliver rapid, non-destructive, and highly
sensitive data on concentration changes, allowing immediate detection of
process deviations. Their seamless integration into automated control
frameworks makes them particularly valuable for maintaining consistency,
reducing waste, and optimizing overall process performance.
ColVisTec's spectrometers and
fiber optic probes
are specifically engineered to operate reliably under the harsh conditions
typical of industrial environments, making them particularly well suited
for inline deployment alongside production lines. Designed with robust,
compact housings and resistant optical components, these instruments can
withstand exposure to vibrations, temperature fluctuations, dust, and
chemically aggressive atmospheres without compromising performance. Their
rugged construction is complemented by stable calibration and low maintenance
requirements, ensuring consistent data quality over extended operating periods.
This durability, combined with seamless integration into existing process
control systems, allows ColVisTec’s spectrometers to deliver continuous,
real-time insights directly within the production environment, supporting
efficient process monitoring and control even under demanding conditions.
In certain applications, a single ColVisTec spectrometer can efficiently
monitor and control up to two production lines simultaneously, thanks to its
flexible multi-channel design. Equipped with up to four optical channels,
the instrument can accommodate two probes at the same time, enabling parallel
data acquisition from separate process streams. This capability allows
manufacturers to maximize the utilization of a single device, reducing equipment
costs while maintaining high levels of process oversight.
